[04:55] Christian Affirmation for Anxiety #1: Calm your anxious thoughts by knowing God is with you
There are 10 Bible verses that I use personally and within the free Break Free from Anxiety workshop that I’ve found are able to help calm our anxious thoughts through reminders of who God is and what His promises are. If you want the full list, you can go to VibrantChristianLiving.com/anxiety and sign up for the free workshop (you’ll find the list as the free bonus resource).
The first declaration is derived from Isaiah 41:13, which reminds us that God holds our hand and is with us, so we don’t have to live in fear. This reminder is such a gift when we’re in the midst of struggle and consumed with anxious thoughts, because it combats that feeling of being alone. In those moments you may feel like you’re the only one who knows what you’re going through, God brings comfort by saying, I am your God, I am with you, I am here to help you.
This Christian affirmation is also helpful because it combats the lie that He is not with us or that He doesn't care, which is a very powerful tactic of the enemy to separate us from God. This verse affirms that He absolutely does care for us.
It’s also a reminder that He’s here to help us, not to harm us. Some of us have grown up with misconceptions about who God is, and his role in how he wants to interact with his children, because we were influenced by parental and religious models that left us feeling confused. This verse and declaration help us clear up any confusion, stating that He is with us and He is for us.
[07:58] Christian Affirmation for Anxiety #2: God will not abandon you and He walks before you
The second declaration that can be helpful in calming anxious thoughts is the Lord will go ahead of you and will not abandon you. We derive this Christian affirmation from Deuteronomy 31:8.
This declaration and verse combination can help combat that feeling of being lost and without direction. God is saying, I'm going to go ahead of you. You can look to me. Even if we don't necessarily feel the presence of His spirit in every single moment, we can know that it's there because God says it's there and His word confirms it. We see evidence of His love for us and the presence of His spirit everywhere, and so in moments of anxiety we can be comforted knowing that He’s not abandoning us, He's going ahead of us.
This declaration also combats the lie that God has forgotten us and our issue. Sometimes we can feel like we’ve been praying about a situation forever, and it can be easy to feel discouraged, or wonder if God has forgotten us.
God isn’t judging us for being discouraged and afraid, but He wants us to see that anxiety is not a coping skill that is working for or helping us. He wants us to see a different way of coping, comforting us with these truths about who He is. He reminds us that He is not going to leave us to figure it out on our own.

[11:39] Christian Affirmation for Anxiety #3: God comforts the brokenhearted and He releases prisoners from every fear
The third Christian affirmation that I want to share with you is a great declaration about how to calm yourself when you're dealing with anxious thoughts: God comforts the brokenhearted and He releases prisoners from every fear.
This statement is based on Isaiah 61:1 and Luke 4:18-19, where we are reminded that God is our great comforter, that He wants to bring good news and comfort to the brokenhearted. He comes to the poor, to prisoners, to captives, and all of us regular people who are willing to admit that we have a need for him.
This declaration combats the lie that we can't be released from fear, that there's something too big or too hard to escape, or we're too broken to be fixed. God comes to all of us and releases us from our prisons of fear and anxious thoughts. He reminds us that there isn’t anything that can’t be fixed, freed, or released through Him.
[16:42] Christian Affirmation for Anxiety #4: God will make our path straight as we trust Him and lead on his guidance
Our fourth declaration is founded in Proverbs 3:5-6, affirming that God will make our path straight as we trust Him and lead on his guidance.
This Christian affirmation is extremely helpful in helping to calm anxious thoughts because it's a reminder that, even if you don't have the answers right now and you can't see the path yet, it's still okay. We don't have to have a straight path in front of us in order to be released from anxiety because we have the promise from God that when we trust in Him, He's going to show us what's next.
This calm affirmation also gives us something active to do in place of worrying. When we begin to feel that we’re struggling with anxiety, we can trust Him to make our path straight, lean on His guidance, and let go of the rest. If you’re struggling to break free from worry and would like some extra support, you can join us in the free Break Free from Anxiety workshop.
[18:32] Christian Affirmation for Anxiety #5: God's promises prove true, and he is a solid rock in whom we can trust
Psalm 18:30-33 leads us into declaration number 5, the last of 10 declarations that I share inside the Break Free from Anxiety workshop: God's promises prove true, and he is a solid rock in whom we can trust.
With this Christian affirmation, we are reminded that God's way is perfect and that all of His promises prove true, and that the promises of God, not the situation, are what's going to bring us comfort and hope. His ways are going to give us the solidity and comfort we seek.
Within this declaration and verse, God also gives us the opportunity to reflect on how He has proven himself to be a solid rock of support and protection in the past, as well as blesses us with strength by reminding us that He makes our way perfect.
As we're working through the process of calming anxious thoughts, there may be worrying thoughts that come up, but we know He arms us with strength. We know we can come to Him again and release those thoughts and situations to Him. We can rest in the knowledge that He will use these moments as a part of the refining process, using it all as an opportunity for us to grow and for His light to be seen in our lives.

[22:47] A reflection on other episodes about anxiety
After sharing a few Bible verses and affirmations, I wanted to take a moment to reflect back on some of the other episodes we’ve done during this series on anxiety. In Episode 199, we discuss anticipatory anxiety, the feeling of ‘waiting for the other shoe to drop.’ In that episode we talk more about ways to stop anticipatory anxiety, including sharing a powerful conversation that I had from inside the Christian Mindset Makeover with one of my coaching clients.
Episode 200 is a transformation story straight from one of my one on one clients, Brynn, on how she found healing from crippling anxiety. We both discuss how we’ve struggled with anxiety for our entire lives, and her journey of how she finally was able to say “I’m done” and find a different way to live. It was such an incredible process to work with her and to see that transition unfold. Through the work she’s done in and out of the Christian Mindset Makeover, using tools like the Calm Your Anxiety Tool Kit, she's been able to dial down the thoughts and how she has a plan to handle them.
Speaking of plans, in Episode 201 we cover how we can make a plan to manage anxiety, release fear, and stop worry. We need to be committed and decide that we are tired of dealing with our anxiety in the same ways and that we are ready to step into the unknown, trying something different and new. We need a way to change that is based on brain science and on how our mind is currently working, so that we can address our patterns of anxiety and negative thoughts in very specific ways. We do all of this and more inside the Calm Your Anxiety toolkit. You can find more information on the Tool Kit here.
