8 Bible Verses About Love in Marriage
There are several bible verses about love and marriage, and many of them are quite romantic.
I discovered this truth seventeen years ago when my husband and I were looking for wedding Bible verses about love.
We wanted a romantic love quote as part of our wedding vows and wedding program, and our favorite was Song of Solomon 2:10-13 (which we also had engraved on our wedding rings).
Since our wedding day, the Bible has proven to be an incredible source of wisdom for our marriage. We’ve found several Bible verses on marriage and relationships that have helped us have a better, stronger marriage.
Whether you’re looking for wedding Bible verses, Valentines Day Bible verses, Bible verses for engaged couples, or just more information about what the Bible says about love and marriage, I pray that this list of Bible verses on love and marriage will bring you great insight and blessing to your relationship too!
About These Bible Verses for Couples about Love
The Bible has so many verses about love!
I’ve gathered just a few Bible verses here to get you started, but I encourage you to look up the word “love” in the concordance (usually found in the back pages of a study Bible) for more inspiration.
In addition, we can learn so much about love in marriage from how God loves His people and takes care of them over and over. For example, the book of Hosea is an allegory of God’s willingness to show unending love to His children (despite the fact that we all still sin against Him!) as told through a man who is asked to marry a prostitute.
Of course there are also many Bible verses on marriage such as Genesis 2:21-25, Ephesians 5:25-28 and Titus 2:1-5 that share about the biblical foundation of marriage itself and how we are to treat our spouses. I encourage you to look at those as well.
Lastly, since everyone has their own preferred Bible translation, I’ve merely listed the scripture references here for these Bible verses about love in marriage so that you can look up these Bible verses on marriage for yourself.

Best Bible Verses About Marriage and Love
Arguably the most famous (and some say the best) Bible verses about love in marriage are in 1 Corinthians 13.
This section of scripture is often quoted in weddings as part of the wedding ceremony. I’m guessing you’ve heard it before… it starts with “Love is patient, love is kind…”.
Of course these love Bible verses can be applied to all relationships, but these traits of authentic biblical love—only possible through the power of the Holy Spirit working through us—are the backbone of how we can best show love in marriage to our spouses.
