Want These Joy Bible Verses to Change Your Life? Try This 3 Step Process
It's so important to not just read Bible verses about joy and happiness but to makes these scriptures about joy a regular part of our thoughts.
And that doesn't happen just by reading these joy Bible verses once or twice.
If you're serious about bringing true, godly joy into your life, here's what I recommend:
1. Read Bible verses about joy and apply them to your life in practical ways–one verse at a time.
Sure, we can read a whole bunch of Bible verses about joy at once (and perhaps feel a boost of joy), but I've found that doesn't bring joy into my life for the long-term.
What really allows godly joy to grow in our hearts? When we can process each verse one at a time–meditating on them and practically applying that truth to our lives.
We need to let God's words about joy change us bit by bit, and that only happens when we connect these truths about joy to our real world circumstances.
That's when these Bible verses about joy become your own guiding truths–and dramatically change your perspective!
That's why I highly recommend the Joy Full 5Rs Bible Study Journal: A six-week intensive Bible study about joy that shows you how to not only understand but apply 30 different joy Bible verses to your life!
Day by day this incredible joy Bible study will transform your thoughts by making these Bible verses about joy real and relevant to YOUR circumstances.
2. Figure out why you struggle with finding joy and get your big questions answered.
What keeps so many of us from finding true joy?
I believe it's because we're bogged down by all kinds of questions about why we're not happy, such as:
- Where can I find true happiness & lasting joy?
- How do I know that God has good, joy-filled plans for me?
- How can I choose joy during life’s trials?
- How can I find joy when I don’t feel joyful?
- How can I trust God to turn my trials into joyful blessings?
- How can joy grow in my heart when life is always hard?
We may not realize we have these questions, but we often have them nonetheless buried inside other frustrations.
For example, you may think, “I need to find joy during this tough season when my kids are driving me crazy.”
Can I challenge you to consider that the deeper question you're REALLY asking may be, “How can I find joy when I don't feel joyful?” or “How can I choose joy during life's trials?”
So first:
- We need to recognize that we have questions (yes, we ALL face these questions about joy from time to time); and then,
- We need to look to God's word for answers (He wants to answer our questions and give us the gift of more joy!).
And that's exactly what the Joy Full 5Rs Bible Study™ Journal does.
This amazing, one-of-a-kind joy Bible study helps you discover the answers to these common questions about joy by looking at Bible verses and biblical stories of those who also struggled with these issues.
Each week on Days 1 to 5 of the study, you'll use the 5Rs Bible Study Method (an easy Bible study method that takes under 10 minutes a day) to apply that day's Bible verse about joy to your life.
This method teaches you to Read, Rewrite, Restate, Relate and Respond to each verse (you can learn more about the 5Rs here).
Then at the end of each week (in the “Reflect” section) you'll find tons of great discussion questions and journal prompts here so that you can delve even deeper into the subject!
Get started with this innovative joy Bible study here.
The “Reflect” section also includes additional Bible reading where you'll hear stories of others in the Bible who also struggled to find joy.
And speaking of learning about joy from others…
3. Learn from others about how they found joy and copy their example.
We can learn so much from others about how they found joy through their individual life paths:
- Solomon, who (unsuccessfully) searched for joy through material wealth and early pleasures
- Jesus, who followed God the Father's will and trusted Him to bring joy from the agony of the cross
- Paul, who learned to find joy and contentment despite ongoing persecution and trials
and so many more!
The Bible is full of stories of those who battled intense difficulties, and this unique Bible study focuses on how God taught them to find joy despite their trials (and how we can too).
In the “Reflect” section each week, we'll explore these stories plus other amazing Bible verses about joy.
These amazing, insightful discussion questions in this section of the Joy Full 5Rs Bible Study Journal are the perfect way to recap what you've learned that week through the 5Rs Bible study verses.

I really love the verses , they are so easy to flow with when studying about joy.
What a wonderful idea! Thanks for sharing!
Great thoughts, and always need to be reminded about joy. I studied all the verses on joy in the Bible and their original word meanings in the Hebrew and Greek and put it together in a printable. Many of the words had action verbs of shouting, singing and dancing attached to experience joy.
